First Immanuel Lutheran Church  Visiting Ministry to the Home Bound

WE ARE HERE TO SERVE

2 Cor. 1:3-4  “ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all consolation, who consoles us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to console those who are in any affliction with the consolation with which we ourselves are consoled by God..”

WHO ARE THE DEACONS AND DEACONESSES?

There are two Deacons (Glenn Duus and Bob White) and four Deaconesses (Norma Gesso, Jean Hollenbeck, Harriett Glass and Donnie White). We evolved from the individual efforts of First Immanuel members to assist members unable to participate in church services.

Currently, we are visiting eight homes.  We engage in conversations about church activities, their experiences and thoughts and we always find ourselves mutually engaged in topics resulting in a good laugh.  The visit concludes with the giving of Communion.  The primary objectives are to maintain our “church family” connection with the member and assure the benefit of Holy Communion at least once a month.  I can tell you that it is a joyful experience.

Members of our group have and continue to provide care giving activities to shut-ins such as transportation to doctor visits and help as my be needed.  Please let us know if we can help you.  We meet on a regular basis to coordinate our efforts to assure needs are met.  May our Lord’s Grace carry us.

Sincerely,

Donnie White,

Chairman
